Hi guys, been a long time lurker here for over 2 years now and thought I'd finally make a post.
I've just moved down to to start my new job here in Newcastle after finishing Uni and I'm looking for some local Geordie knowhow regarding garages, recommendations for pubs and restaurants or just places to go and things to do in the area (post lockdown at least ) I have my MOT due very shortly so garage recommendations would be most appreciated however, it doesn't need to be a LR specialist. Cheers, Stuart |

Can’t talk about garages, but loads of great pubs. My favourite was the bridge tavern under the Tyne bridge. Great beer and great atmosphere. Having said that I don’t think I went in a bad pub!! Haven’t lived there for a few years now, but I don’t imagine the night life has disappeared!!

Newcastle is a big place, are you actually in the City or outlying areas??
Depends what your into but plenty of history in thre region and lots of 'firsts' if that floats your boat?? |

Thanks for all the replies guys!
PCM has recommended me a garage that I'll definitely be giving a call tomorrow morning (I'll get back to you PCM once I've reached my 3 post threshold ) I should probably have specified that I'm in Jesmond, as recommended by everyone I asked since I'm still in my early 20's - although I regret this decision as I'm not a city lad, despite how leafy the area is. I'm just looking for things to entertain myself with over the weekends really as I don't know anyone in northern England and I'm working from home so not getting to meet anyone, with this lockdown not helping matters further! Funny you should mention the Bridge Tavern Co1 as I very nearly had dinner there whilst staying at the nearby Premier Inn flat hunting. Ended up having a rather disappointing meat feast pizza as recommended by the bouncer at the Weatherspoon's along the road since it was the only place open that didn't require a booking It is definitely on my shortlist now! Definitely into my history 90 Dreamer, especially if its buildings/structures as I'm a civil engineer. I know of the "seven bridges of Newcastle" of which I need to go look at again, this time in daylight, but if you have any other suggestions along this avenue that would be great. Like you say Baron, it is a lovely city! |

Welcome to the North East.
The Ouseburn area is great, some good pubs and a good music venue at the Cluny. The Victoria Tunnel tour is amazing, when it reopens. https://newcastlegateshead.com/explore/ouseburn |

It's been a while since we lived up there (in Heaton) but we love revisiting. Tynemouth beach is a fantastic asset right on the doorstep. Good surf as well. We moved to Bristol - which we love - but no-one can sell Weston Super Mud to me after Tynemouth!
Its a shame Cheviot 4x4 closed down, they were an excellent outfit. There are a plethora of excellent greenlanes out in Northumberland too. Enjoy your new life there! Paul |

Holy Island or to give it is other name Lindisfarne is a beautiful place to visit as long as you check to tide times.
Oh and don't forget the local dress code, T shirt , no coat, at all time no mater what the weather. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Being a soft Yorkshireman, I used to get lambasted by the lads for going on a night out in the middle of winter with a long sleeved shirt on! They don’t feel the cold north of the Tyne!
