I could be completely wrong here, but...

...there are certain celebrities who seem to do a lot for troops stationed abroad, a lot of it going unreported in the press.

But not the 'beckhams'. I find them to be just a walking, self-publicing, self-centred brand. Fair play he is over in Afghanistan, but why? Im sure he must have a book coming out in a few months, or is trying to build up popularity for the World-cup, or something else that will become apparent later on in the year. I find it hard to believe he is over there for the good of the troops and that it will be of no benefit to him!

A while ago he bought a 4x4 truck, so he is now probably bored with it and is looking for a new toy.
