Certain sites seem to be far more prone to water issues than most of the 'branded' sites......

^^^^Yes this!

I'll happily fill up at any busy filling station that has a good turnover fo fuel- and therefore minimum spare ullage allowing build up of moisture and other contaminants in the tanks.

I just chuck a tank of premium through our vehicles every 4-5 fills.

The Td5 engine was designed to run on a wide range of different quality diesel fuel - the fuel you would expect to find in some of the more remote areas of the world.

During the Gulf War, fleets of military Landie Td5s were successfully operated on Jet A1 aviation fuel; Land Rover confirmed that this would cause no problems.

I'm not all that convinced that any diesel that you get out of a pump in UK is going to cause a noticeable difference in performance, nor that it will 'kill' any of the fuel system components.

I was always under the impression that the military never ran any Td5's and even post Td5 were still supplied 300 Tdi's.
I may be wrong, it could be another of those urban Land Rover myths. Smile 04' 90 Td5 CSW..

It was the Spams (Americans) who used a fleet of Td5 Defenders after finding that their Humvees were too big for certain tasks/terrain.

UK forces did, indeed, stick to 300 Tdis because they are easier to 'fettle'. The only place I ever came across Td5s in use by the UK military was (oddly enough) in the Falkland Islands

They used loads of Td5s, but not in the green fleet.

Very true Retro, but I wasn't sure that leased vehicles were what was being queried.
