Defender 90 Rear Step and D-Fender wheel arch extension
Ongoing work to my 2014 Defender!

I have removed the rear step and given it a very light sand blast to the rusty areas Mainly near the hinge. Please can I ask for advice on what paint and/or primer I should use and ideally in an areosol can?

I have bought some D-Fender wheel arch extensions from Mud.co.uk and have asked my local dealer to spray them (corris grey) whilst doing the front bulkhead/windscreen surround (successful 6 year corrosion warranty claim) and fell of my site when I was told it would £96.00. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the cost should be and do they need doing?

Thanks in advance and look forward to receiving your feedback. Hopefully there is a screenshot from Mud.co.uk

If it helps, I got a similar quote for doing mine, albeit in Surrey not your neck of the woods.

They don’t need doing, it depends on whether you want them body coloured or not. Personally I think they look more factory when painted

I coloured coded them myself, first time spray painting for me but they turned out great. If i can do it......

Do a quick Google, trip to local car parts shop and away you go.  James

What colour are your sills? I think they really need to match in if possible.

My sills are black silk chequer plate, so I sprayed the extensions to match.

If you do decide to paint them, it is very easy to get a good finish on an item that size using 'rattle' cans. Just make sure to use a quality plastic primer (rust-oleum works well).
