2003 TD5 - booming noise on acceleration
under part load in all gears I'm getting a 'booming' noise that i'm pretty sure isn't mechanical as it goes away higher up the rev range in each gear. Its very much a heavy bass sound.

It sounds like its from the exhaust / air intake as its more of a resonance boom related to air pressure, its where you would normally hear the turbo spooling up, but instead its a boom.

Changing down a gear and holing the same speed (e.g. 45 mph in 5th gear = booming, 45mph in 4th gear = no boom). Also if I dip the clutch it goes but that could also be related to lifting off the accelerator.

I've had a look round the car and can't see anything obvious, my 1st though is the waste gate?

Is your rear demper near the fuel tank bracket?

A few 1/2 ltr bottles of Grolsch will solve that problem. Laughing
