I bought a thermotop C second hand from eBay earlier in the year as a full kit, was originally a Rover 75 unit I think. Works ok, I'm stripping and rebuilding before fitting. But the dosing pump is a tad beaten up and has been sprayed black in a bit of a heath Robinson fashion before my ownership...
Anyone replaced theirs with one of these generic ones from eBay and similar? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313053072965 Same external shape and size, appears same voltage, not sure on the dosing rate. Webasto spare officially seems to be £300. That's 3 X more than I paid for my entire setup lol. Trouble is.... I'd rather not set fire to my vehicle. Mind you the whole things second hand and being rebuilt with new gaskets etc, rather than brand new. Must stop attempting to buy champagne with beer money! |

Make sure the dosing is the same as the pump is specced to the unit, if the dosing is too great you will have plumes of white unburnt diesel in the air.

As above, any pump that delivers the right flow of fuel against time will do it Cheers

Thanks guys.
I can't pay £300 for a webasto one... I'm after any experiences anyone has with Chinese copy parts. Flow rate aside. Or a way to renew it without spending that outlay. I don't trust the one I've got... But also have no experience of the Chinese copy parts from amazon\ebay. I mean..... Look at the thing lol It's actually got 2 dents in it. Curiously it works just fine! But over time? Don't trust it. Click image to enlarge |

Now that's a good plan.......!
Is JEX a rover part number in that case as it's got a JEX number on the side of it. I guess that cements the idea it's a 75 unit. |

Thanks
If you look at that new part it's even the same shape as the one I've got, and doesn't match either the OEM ones from webasto or the Chinese copies. |
