TAKEN THE PLUNGE, GOT ME A RE-MAP FROM ALIVE!!!
HAD MY PUMA RE-MAPPED YESTERDAY BY GARY AT ALIVE TUNING

Shocked FOOKIN HELL ITS BRILLIANT!

THE ENGINE IS SO SMOOTH AND THE TORQUE INCREASE IS PHENOMENAL, BEFORE I COULDNT REALLY USE 6TH BELOW 50MPH NOW IT WILL PULL 6TH SMOOTHLY AND QUICKLY FROM 38-4OMPH. WHEN I PULL OUT OF MY DRIVE IM IMEDIATLY GOING UP A VERY STEEP HILL 3RD GEAR TOPS, NOW YOU CAN PULL 5TH UP THE SAME HILL AND I HAVE TO BACK OFF. YOU CAN USE AT LEAST 1GEAR HIGHER ALL THE TIME THUS KEEPING THE REVS DOWN AND POTENTIALLY SAVING FUEL BUT AT THE MOMENT IM JUST ENJ OYING THE EXTRA POWER AND AR*EHOLING IT EVERYWHERE Laughing
YOU CAN CHANGE GEAR AT 1500 REVS NO PROBLEM AND WHEN YOU WANT THE EXTRA GO IT REALLY DOES UPTO ABOUT 4000RPM WHEREAS STANDARD PUMAS SEEM TO RUN OUT OF POKE AT 3000RPM.

I KNOW THERE ARE LOTS OF GOOD TUNERS OUT THERE (AND SOME Censored POOR ONES) BUT I REALLY WOULD RECOMMEND ALIVE TUNING, GARY IS INCREDIBLY KNOWLEGABLE AND PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT HE DOES
AND IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOURS WORTH OF ROAD TESTING AND TWEEKING UNTIL HE WAS TOTALLY HAPPY WITH THE RESULT BECAUSE HES A PERFECTIONIST.
THANKS AGAIN GARY AND I WILL BE BRINGING THE WIFES TDV8 VOGUE FOR THE SAME TREATMENT.
Thumbs Up

Hi Landy Andy, have you managed to save any fuel yet or are you still " flooring it everywhere" with a big grin on your face like me ?

Yes am saving fuel. I am not booting it around that much as I had an other companies remap on it before, so am used to the power, BUT due to some running problems Gary checked it over for me and ended up remaping it.

And his remap is worlds apart, soooooooo much smoother, still all the power, and now no misfire, or black smoke.

And free beer whilst it was being done Whistle

Will take weeks, or longer for you to stop flooring it, and blowing people away from the lights Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Been there Mr. Green

Andy

Can anybody tell me why factory values are "not optimized" for this engine, so remapping can get more torque, smooth running, save fuel, etc.?

Yes, as there is more torque available you tend to change gear at lower revs as the extra Torque pulls you along nicely.

No, the anti stall feature is not affected.

No, as it is a personal remap based on the individual original LR fuel map from your landy the fuel pressure at the rail and boost pressure are matched perfectly meaning no excess of black smoke from exhaust (Too much fuel and not enough Air) and a smoother running engine due to the Fuel rail pressure not set too high (unlike a plug in box) so no resulting extra clatter or knocking from engine.

Also remember that a diesel will always knock on start up and at idle due to ignition lag, this being the small delay (typically 0.001 to 0.002 seconds) between the start of fuel injection and the beginning of combustion and is more noticeable with a cold engine at start up. The characteristic diesel knock is caused by the sudden increase in cylinder pressure which occurs when the injected fuel has been mixed with the hot air (As the piston moves up and compresses the inlet air which is cold, it rises in temp due to the force and pressure being exerted by the piston) and starts burning. So as every thing is matched in a personal remap the engine will not sound any different but will rev more freely and the available torque is increased.

HTH Brian.
