Odyssey (dead) and CTEK
Hi there I have two Odyssey pc1500 batteries, during lockdown I have had the vehicle plugged into the mains with a CTEK MXS25 trickle charger and Ctek 250s with smartpass. A week ago I noticed some acid like film on the battery and then today I went for a drive and noticed the fridge had no lights at all until I connected the mains power again. This is the second time this has happened and is obviously an expensive habit Replacing batteries( the start one seems perfectly fine... any advice please folks??? @steve_overland on Insta.

Didi you check the correct setting of the chargers? If I remember correct, PC1500 are AGM batteries and not standard lead acid. If you charge with the wrong characteristics and/or without proper temperature sensors, you may cook them. Put a voltmeter for monitoring and check the max voltage at the given ambient temperature does not exceed the manufacturers specs! Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Steve, the odyssey quality has slipped of late in my experience, i think there are now better options out there. i have an odyssey 5years old running an L322 no problem. had two others in defenders that would be 3 years old this year except they were scrapped last year as wouldnt hold charge. they are not a battery i would purchase. Cheers

It would appear that the odyssey is Definitely dead... anyone have any recommendations that would fit in the same spot under the seat next to the other one.... @steve_overland on Insta.

There's only one place worth looking at for battery stuff:

http://www.aandncaravanservices.co.uk/

And remember that Yuasa L36-EFBs are also sold by Halfords as HLB700s, which are much cheaper if you've got a Trade Card.

make sure the odyssey isn't receiving a charge of over 15v it will kill it check ctek profile is correct agms need 14.7 to charge to 100% is it wired for agm ?
, are you running a solar panel through ctek or through an independent mppt like a victron? again check profile and set to aGM with equalisation off

I run two oddesy and one optima yellow top on 110 and two yellow tops on 90 without any issues as yet , but voltage never above 14.7v when charging.... Odyssey's run fridge 24/7 on 110. Have fun be happy
