Are there any signs, notices, or instructions in the vehicle telling you to deploy the triangle?
The most exquisite aspect is that you need the triangle in order to open the door, but you also need to open the door to reach the triangle. Catch 22. Too much focus on verticality and not enough on practicality. |

The old Vauxhall Isignia estate had a complete separate set of lamp clusters inside the boot opening as the main units are in the boot lid so not visible when open.

This is the notice on the rear door, about as much use as a set of Ikea furniture assembly instructions or LR Accessory fitting instructions.......

They haven't exactly followed their own instructions to put the triangle 100m back from the car in the illustration on that label. |

They could’ve incorporated a set of hazard lights into the high level brake light. I’m sure that wouldn’t have been beyond Gerrys skill.

I would be seriously miffed if, having spent all that money on a new car, I found that every time I opened the rear door in the dark I had to deploy a warning triangle.
One of the excuses for not continuing with the old Defender was it didn't meet current standards. Here we have a very expensive replacement with the same value engineering. It would have cost very little to put a repeater light on the edge of the rear door, and significantly enhanced the safety of the, obviously unvalued, customer. Perhaps I should have posted this in the grumpy old man section |

I thoroughly concur with your thoughts about the placement of a set of lights on the door edge. I wonder if Powerful UK will get round to an aftermarket fix for this?
Should we be asking our main dealer to get it fixed for us at no cost as its a design fault? |

Click image to enlarge Strictly speaking it’s the same with any Defender/ pre-Defender model with a side opening rear door with a spare wheel mounted on it. Another characteristic designed in by Gerry as a carry over from the old Defender? You should go back to the dealer and demand a safety triangle for when you open your rear door. I can just imagine what the reply would be.“ Sir nobody has ever complained about that before” At least there’s more space on the door frame to fit a long but narrow length of red retro-tape on the old version A cheapo fix for JLR would be to move the Squircles up into the black mouldings above the waist line but the offside set would still,be partly obscured.and of course that would ruin Gerry’s design.........excuse my dire efforts with IOS photo editor Click image to enlarge Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Is there anyone on here with RAC or AA membership who could ask their legal people for an opinion, or some other avenue for proper legal advice that anyone can think of?
It seems highly improbable that Landrover would be selling an illegal vehicle, or that Type Approval would have been forthcoming if it was illegal. |

Autocar suggest that there is an EU regulation that requires lights to be visible.

Surely by providing the triangle, putting the sticker on the door and, according to the sticker, describing what to do in the owners manual, they have complied with the law? Ray
