We added a spliter to our wing aerial which works ok ..I had a magnetiic one some time ago but it was not very water proof so failed after a few months Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

No reason why you shouldn't, and depending on the design of the roof-rack it might make a rather good ground plane for the aerial. Ideally you'd mount in in the centre. The problem you'll have is that the aerial generally gets in the way of anything you want to carry on the rack.

Click image to enlarge Snap ! Thats why we have the standard aerial as we have a CB and UHF/VHF handsets that need to be mounted on the roof ... plus the issues with the pop top feeding the cables to the handsets .. I just don’t want to drill a hole in the wing... and already have a hole in the leg on my solar panel so makes sense to fit it there ... @steve_overland on Insta.

Was genuinely hoping to find a pic of someone 'dabbing' whilst standing on top of a roof rack when i saw this post... slightly disappointed

No need to drill any holes, https://www.4x4overlander.com/product/defender-aerial But you will have to find something else to fit on your solar panel brackets. |

It does need the standard wing hole.
I missed the bit about you not having any holes in your wings. |
