I have done this in a couple of places.
Front doors - on the corners which use the larger plastic clips; and on one of the 2nd row doors, at the bottom. However I had to take that door card off again to fix a loose handle, and I found myself thinking exactly the same thing as you. The allen/socket head screws are so easy to use; the clips are not! As far as I can see the problem will be those places on the door card which are much thicker, and where the bolt would have to come in through the 'side' of the card. I think you'd have to drill a hole, but also dig out a 'flat' for the bolt head or washer to sit against. One day if I have the time I might do more. I'd also be interested to see if anyone else has taken this further. Use a piloted counterbore cutter to counterbore the hole to accept the screw-head. Google "piloted counterbore cutter" for more information. |
