That would be nice in an ideal world, but unfortunately, seeing as we’re headed for no deal on Brexit and other big economies have decided to only offer us trade deals on their own terms only which are considerably worse than the trade terms we had with them as part of the EU, I think it very wise for Jaguar
/Land Rover to keep their factories in Europe as well Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Sales figures (within reason) are pretty irrelevant. What is important is the profit per unit

Sone analysis of that in this article:
https://www.business-live.co.uk/manufactur...d-18735304

"Vehicle sales - % change - profitable

Range Rover 47,290 (16.2) Yes
Range Rover Sport 74,277 (7.6) Yes
Range Rover Evoque 85,106 +24.7 Yes
Range Rover Velar 52,902 (18.4) Yes
Discovery 33,674 (17.5) No
Discovery Sport 74,568 (15.2) Yes
Defender 249 (new model) Yes

Jaguar XJ 3,535 (model run-out) No
Jaguar XF 11,726 (56.7) No
Jaguar XE 21,949 (27.9) No
Jaguar F-Pace 43,388 (17.6) Yes
Jaguar E-Pace 37,894 (18.9) No
Jaguar I-Pace 15,867 +40.0 Yes
Jaguar F-Type 6,234 (20.Cool No"

Although, I'm not clear what criteria, other than volume, has been used, and if so how Defender can be a yes?

He also appears to agree with Grenadier and Gerry on image;

“As a premium and luxury vehicle designer and manufacturer brand image is everything to JLR and its customers. " Neutral

I thought one reason for building Nitra was Boris’s Brexit with no agreement could lead to tariffs on cars imported to the EU form the UK and having a factory inside the EU gets around that. JLR still have Castle Bromwich shut down I believe, so there’s no point in moving to Honda’s old factory when they gave surplus factory space already.

Production numbers for DiscoSport, RRS and Evoque are amazing, the two cars traditionalists love to hate (After New Defender) are the cars that make the most money for JLR! We are starting to see more and more RRS owners joining the Green Road Club now and enjoying days out on the hills getting it dirty.

Must be depressing for the design team that D5 still languishes In sales numbers after how successful D3 and D4 were although I’m seeing a huge number of them around these parts and yesterday on the motorway if it wasn’t an L322 or RRS that flashed or waved at me it was one of the many D5’s. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I also have an 1996 Defender that I’ve owned since 2001, I don’t need to change anything, they both do different things extremely well and some things less well but neither is truly awful or deserves to be on a scrap heap just because of its name. I don’t need to be converted to the old model. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I agree - I’m seeing D5’s all over the place. I see no evidence that they are not selling well. I do a lot of driving and they seem to be everywhere. I hated them when they first came out but in lighter colours with nice wheels (and I’m seeing more and more like this) I think they look gorgeous.
But I still prefer the new Defender Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

Well as I just pointed out - I personally SEE all around me no evidence that they aren’t selling well!! Because I see a lot on the road. I didn’t say that they are selling well. Clearly every D5 ever sold is following me up and down the bloody country on Britain’s motorways Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

No problem ~ clarification "of all around me" works fine, I wasn't sure if you were referring back to this:

Thumbs Up Yes that works in the same way I don't have a glacier melting in my back garden so can comfortably claim that climate change isn't happening and sea levels aren't rising.

Well not really as if you’d actually bothered to read my post I said I saw loads of them all the way down from Inverness to Suffolk.
Maybe your Geography isn’t great, but that’s the North of Scotland to the South East of England! And flattering though you make think I’m royalty and own most of the U.K., I can assure you I’m not. So that sir is hardly my back garden Sold the Puma Defender and bought a brand new Pangea Green 2020 Defender D240 S with a few factory extras!

I did read your posts and quoted exactly what you said - your ability to extrapolate from a single drive to a conclusion of what - a conspiracy?
