Just specced up a base model 90 for fun. A few extras including the mid range engine and country pack but nothing fancy, cloth seats etc, steel wheels etc. A shade over £50k, crackers.

That article is a bit misleading as it implies the new six cylinder is coming in 3 outputs of D200, 250 and 300. I assume it’s the 2.0 at D200 and D250 and the six is D300? The Sport gets a 350bhp version... can only be a re flash away with BAS 1951 80" S1 2.0

no it sounds like they're all 6-cyl Ingeniums: "The D200 and D240 become D200 and D250 models for 2021*, using the same in-line six-cylinder Ingenium engine as the D300 with 200PS and 249PS respectively. An uplift in torque delivers enhanced usability, with 500Nm (D200) and 570Nm (D250) available, utilising MHEV technology to boost fuel efficiency and reduce emissions across the diesel Defender line-up." damn, if I had bought a D240, I'd be extremely off right now. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

That’s ace. I remember talking to my dealer (forum member) about the fact the six is what I want. D200 and flash.

I imagine the roll out of 6 cylinder power plants so soon after launch will hammer the residual values on the outgoing 4 pot offerings. I think I would be less than pleased if I had just bought a £50k plus vehicle, only to learn that the engine was being phased out within months of launch

Didn’t they do this with the introduction or the ingenium into the Discovery Sport? Started off with the old Freelander 2.2 lump for launch and then the better engine came out within months? 1951 80" S1 2.0

Cant see the capacity explicitly mentioned. But given they are modular engines and the 4-cyl is 2.0, I think its safe to assume its 3.0
I'm wrapped the D300 is available so soon. Feel a bit sorry for those with the 4-cylinders. |

It’s one of the prices you pay for being an early adopter I suppose. There’s nothing wrong with the D200 and D240 motors - one thing in the U.K. that would concern me with bigger engines is tax, there’s enough on the D200 and D240 and there will be more on the bigger ones, also the current engines are not exactly economical on fuel and while the 6 cylinders might give better torque i don’t see that they will be notably more economical on fuel. As I’m not planning on selling mine any time soon I’m not worried about residuals - I bought the car as my “last fossil fuelled car” the next (if there is one) will probably be an electric wheelchair...... I just wonder if they are heading off the Ineos as it’s 3.0 straight six power and the Defender looked a bit weedy. Every other manufacturer downsizing litres and upsizing turbo 4’s.
I salute LR for upsizing on both and putting in some torquey engines. Suppose another cycle of early adopters required to test the new engine and iron out the issues for 2022MY ... 1951 80" S1 2.0 1995 110 300TDI 1995 90 300TDI |

My business partner bought a new RRS hybrid last year. She rejected it after 14 weeks (7 of those in the in the Dealer), after they declared they could not fix it and she did not want a replacement. It never showed more than 5 miles of range available so was basically useless in her opinion. |

I appreciate that older Land Rovers (in the generic term) had 2.0l engines many years ago and I wonder if a reason for upping to a 6 cylinder is resistance from parts of the market to small capacity high output engines.
As mine is a First Edition D240 I wonder if there will ever be a 6 cylinder First Edition? Also the new model X-Dynamic - I wonder if this is a result of what customers are speccing factory order cars with and what dealer fit accessories are being added. The small range of the PHEV is disappointing, BMW’s X5 has an official range on purely electricity of 50 miles so around 40 in the real world and are rumoured to have a 70 mile range PHEV soon to come in the X7 version. 27 miles official range means less than 20 in real world use and as low as 15 in the winter if my experience with the Countryman PHEV is anything to go by, and it was a featherweight compared to the Defender PHEV Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior.
