I fitted Ring Aurora DRL lights to two 2.4 Pumas and they work great and very easy to wire up. I decided to fit them to a 200 tdi and a 300 tdi but they do not work on the tdi Defenders. They light up on ignition then go out. Wired the very same as the Puma, two wires to the battery and one to the side light as per instructions.
The unit that does not work in the tdi (the 300 and the 200), I wired it up to the Puma and it works as intended. I know modern cars (Puma) charge slightly higher than older cars (tdi) but I did not think that would make a difference to DRL lights. You may need to wire it through a relay on the Tdi's rather than using the Ring control box. Simple enough to do, just need a normally closed relay.
Wire the relay coil to ground and side lights. The switched terminals to ignition and DRL positive. When the ignition is active the DRLs will light. When you turn on the side lights, it will power the relay coil and open the ignition feed circuit to the DRLs and extinguish them - as per law  2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thank you. That is how the work on the Puma. The 300 tdi is due to go in to get some work done so I might get them to do the wiring alteration you suggest. Many thanks
