Is there any particular reason they would have to go monocoque? I mean there are still several cars out there with ladder chassis, the Wrangler being one of them.

The subject came up today of replacing my Landrover "with a new one" when its too old to work anymore. It won't be replaced with a Landrover by the sounds of things... 2011 110 USW

There is one near me, horrible thing but some say it is what LR should have developed the Defender into Why?

So for those special people that have made this foolish suggestion.......In the words of Kenny Everett's US army general character....... 'Round them up, put them in a field and bomb the b*stards' and they can do the trucks at the same time too ! Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

Well, if the Defender replacement loses the separate chassis, aluminium, work hard, easy maintenance aspect of the Defender, then maybe the Santana could be described as a closer heir to the throne?

You must all know how much I hate the 'J' word but a Jeep would be better than a Santana.

Give Land Rover some credit - they will make a replacement that will do the job...better.
Ive said it before, but there has been negativity every time LR produce a new version of certainly the defender - but everytime they get it right; being the market leader. Look at all of the range and their success...more hotair is expended on the replacement defender than all the defenders on the road today produce. Mike |

If the Defender has to change radically to stay road legal, why should the Santana not have to change in a similar fashion? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I just recently went to Australia with my Defender TD4 did 12000 ks with not a single problem....as it is a 90 i'm going to buy a 110 and go again in a year or two. I got so much positive feedback from people i met downunder everybody loved my Landy... I hope that landrover will only change the engine to 2,2 for now the rest works fine for me. so soon i will own two defenders. what they will come up with in the future is to be seen, but they have such a load on their back to get a icon like the defender right..i would'nt want to be in their shoes.... |
