It's seems that project code is for the new RR Sport not a new Defender

I suppose this sits with the view that the 2014 Defender will spawn the D4 replacement as the D4 was always a RRS in wellies. What confuses a little here is that L494 is (reasonably) widely reported as the new RRS on the same aluminium platform at the FFRR so does this mean 2014 Defender will use the same aluminium base? I would suspect not due to cost but will be interesting to see.

Might be cheaper in the long run to produce a single platform for all vehicles, such as VW do. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the spawn 20 odd vehicles from the same platform.
This would work in favour of cost as Defender doesn't currently sell enough for the cost of a re-design to be effective. |

It'd be too wide for defender replacement.
