That sort of water ingress in largely inevitable if you use a cheap RAI without an adequate cyclonic prefilter at the intake point. Unless you've been wading it is likely that that has been inhaled as atmospheric moisture (rain etc), and only a decent cyclonic prefilter will stop that.
Further, the standard pipework from wing to airbox is notoriously awful, very restrictive, and also notoriously leaky. Your best option is to fit a quality induction system such as those from Nuggetstuff and/or Nakatanenga. |

Is there any evidence of water in the air filter box?
if not this could just be ingress of rain whilst sat. If you've had half the weather we had here in north wales you wouldn't be surprised... The other possibility is driving in rain with the scoop facing forward, might as well stick a hose down your air intake 
This problem combined with the safari snorkel not fitting a roll cage is why I swapped to a PandP snorkel: http://www.ppcages.com/accessories/land-rover/snorkels/ Then made a wing manifold so there will never be a problem with a foam gasket failing. |

One thing to bear in mind is that if you are running with a standard un-modified air box then this sort of volume of moisture will be spun out by the cyclone in the box entry orifice.
If, on the other hand, you've modified your airbox to remove this handy but restrictive device, you will end up with all the moisture in your (paper) air filter element, and that is where your serious trouble can begin. I have never understood the enthusiasm with which people remove the cyclone from the air box but without then fitting a quality cyclonic prefilter. |

My intake was standard, I pulled the whole lot out to check it over and clean it out as the pipes from the snorkel weren't as well sealed as once they should have been.
I've not hacked it up yet, however I'm leaning towards a better snorkel with a pre-cleaner, the PP Cages diy kit looks good and ive ordered some ducting to make a nice run to the airbox from the wing. |

Wondering if it'd fit with a safety devices cage.
Looks better than the safety devices equivalent. Good choice I reckon that'll look great. |

Matt110 the answer is yes they do and the reason I have one fitted to my Defender. Give me a moment and I will post some pictures for you to see. Plus... the prices have gone up or is my LR purchase memory working just fine   |

Superb. Thanks for taking the time to send the thread etc. That really does look good. Like the way you attached too. I spy one of those ridiculously disproportionately expensive safety devices cage attachment blocks I winced when I purchased my own ones of
