Help locating TD5 ECM earthing point
I’ve been trying to sort a water gauge fluctuation issue out and have found an issue with using my Nanocom (early model). A bit more research has suggested to reinforce the earth at the obd connector and the Engine ecu with a direct connection to the battery earth to ensure the potentials are the same. After a look at the manuals I now have another head scratcher as the ECM earths supposedly all connect and run to stud C0056 under the drivers seat. After a look I have the stud/nuts covered in original paint and no wiring attached. Any idea where the ECM earth point is?

The earth will be on the driver's side of the transfer box. When i swapped my loom over in my 02', the original ECM earth was on one of those studs in your image. The new loom had the ECM earth on a ring terminal next to the transfer box.

Hope that helps ?

Many thanks. I’ve solved all my problems by running an additional earth from the internal stud direct to the battery and also cleaning the bulkhead earth behind the expansion bottle. Happy now 😀😀 2003 Defender TD5 Hardtop (current - work in progress)
