Coolant plug leak
Having changed my exhaust manifold, I’ve noticed there was some water coming out the coolant plug in the head. Has anyone experienced this? Or is it a trait of not running for the best part of 5 weeks?

Yes had this with my first Td5. Removed it and fitted new plug. Was fine after that.

Time to replace it. I know off some td5's of which a plug failed on the highway and that was the end off the engine. Roel

Can I just remove it and apply sealing compound and refit?

Yes, you might find the bung is loose? When I swapped my cylinder head with a new one due to coolant loss I noticed this was loose.

I would use Loctite 572 if you don’t mind spending some money or even some PTFE tape and tighten as a cheaper option.

It's a sub £15 part - I'd personally replace with a new one - as has been said, failure can be catastrophic.

LCM100170 is the part number

I’ve found the plug online but it’s just a plain plug, so I’m still going to have to use some form of sealant before I fit it, so why replace it when it’s the seal that’s gone? Agreed it’s all of £15 but In 20 years of being a heating engineer I’ve never seen a plug fail only the seals
