Hand Brake is a good bet, try putting the hand brake on gently as you coast to stop and see if the noise disappears, been a spate of this recently maybe the recalls for leaking oil onto hand brake.

GN, sounds like the same problem I had, at about 60 mph it rattled and whined when I took my foot off. I drive back and to from poland to the UK so I didn't have much time to look at it in detail. I changed the transfer box and both props. Runs better than new now. John

Hi GN, I have exactly the same problem - mine is a 2011 with 1500 miles on it and it has made the noise from new after a run. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to occur after driving for a while.
It doesn't matter if it is in gear or not, clutch is in or out or what gear it is in if in gear. My handbrake seems to have travel (ie not biting early on the ratchet) and the dealer has checked it and said it is adjusted correctly. Be interested to know what you find out from your dealer as it seems to be a common feature. Cheers, John John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Fixed - hand brake was the problem.
It was set very tight only one or may be two clicks. I think it was binding a little - as you drove further so it got hot, when slowing down then it would catch. Backed off to three clicks now - problem gone. Thanks |
