Quick question gents
I’ve got a mantec swing away carrier and I’d like to raise the spare a little as per the pervious posts, do we think the Foundry gadget will fit if I chop the existing posts off? Click image to enlarge There’s a Penman under there somewhere, honest Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

Jim, does the right hand side caliper move a few inches when brake free? I checked and nothing looked broken visually but there’s some play in the caliper hosing? The left is fixed solid but something didn’t feel right with the play in the right hand side. I thought this may be the auto reverse rocker??? |

Click image to enlarge The caliper bracket ergo the caliper is part of the moving assembly that allows it the bypass the brake pressure when reversing. So as the tyre moves backwards, the caliper is holding the disc (assuming it has been applied by enough pressure from braking to a halt or the vehicle in reverse is enough to compress the damoper and the master cylinder), that provides the counter clockwise movement of the rocker assembly and acts on the valve releasing the brake pressure. So yes when free it is possible to move the caliper and rocker a little bit. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest |

Cheers Devon Rover, that has probably saved me and maybe others a load of hassle and money. I take it then that is only applies to the right hand wheel? If so my trailer is normal. Thanks for taking time out to explain.

Yes only on the RH wheel. and it rotates by maybe 1/2" in total, if that. |

Just out of interest, when extending the chassis like that, would the trailer have to go through an IVA test before using it on the road? |

Yup an IVA i believe as have added 30kg to the frame but then again it’s rated for nearly 1150kg of cargo and the pod only weights 200kg 🤷🏻♂️
I’ll do some more research on that once it’s done. I do know that changing the electric lead to 13 pin means that the new 13 pin on the defender now is included in MOT but the 7 pin wasn’t. |

That looks brilliant! Keep us posted on the IVA, I’m interested to hear how the process goes with testing.
