Squeaky seats
Hello, my 90 TD5 developed quite noisy squeaky seats, probably the springs... As I have not become any heavier and don't plan on getting any lighter Embarassed , does anybody have a solution to the squeakiness?

Best

Check that something isn’t broken. There are no springs in the seats. Thumbs Up

It could be the seat back squeaking on its pivots.

If you can hear your seat squeaking in a Defender they must be bad! Rolling with laughter
Try firing some WD40 under the seat, that should sort it. Thumbs Up

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with this, my driver seat squeaks when you lean back hard and the passenger base squeaks on every pothole/minor bump but only with a passenger in it, it's something I've been mean to fix for a while. 2005 Td5 110 Hardtop

Try taking one bolt out at a time but replace before removing another Hopefully find the squeak by elimination

In my experience a squeak in a seat is usually the pivot area in board side near the cubby box. There is a spring there and it often moves ever so slightly and begins to creak metal on metal. Check it out and lube it but don’t use WD40 it is not good for this application as it is too thin. You can see the bottom of the spring (the tiny vertical bar under the horizontal pin). The other end goes up the side of the back. You may have to pull the upholstery to get at it there.

Good luck. Thumbs Up

Sorry I could not hear any advise because of the noise and the radio too loud...

Just joking... god bless this forum and WD40... It was the hinge at the bottom of the back of the seat... both of them.
Thank you!

give them a bit of copper Grease, or some chain grease. WD40 I think doesn't really cut the mustard at all. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
