Plus a write-up of their jolly.

Reading this in that article :

"This is the best installation yet of JLR’s Ingenium diesel, too. The sound – tweaked through the use of the car’s audio system – is more of a rumble than a growl, while the throttle response is surprisingly good."

Anyone read anything about this feature? Confused

Yeah noticed they mentioned sound enhancing but I’ve not read it anywhere else.

The D240 in my Velar is reasonably hushed, only when really pushed you notice it’s a 4 pot.

Is this what the motoring world has come to? Big Cry Big Cry
We used to like real engine noises from real engines that had a character of their own.
Now journalists are getting excited about a synthesised, enhanced sound played through the audio system, to fool us into believing the car sounds better than it does.
The PlayStation generation don't know any better and things won't be back to how it was.

Thank god I had a few v8's when I had the chance. Thumbs Up

I think it’s been used in the RRS2 and D5 for some time. My RRS2 is a MY16 SDV8, and a friend’s MY17 SDV6 sounds exactly the same, and better than my previous RRS1 TDV8. Also, my MY16 D4 SCV6 sounds awful compared to a friend’s D5 SCV6 - and it’s the same engine.

I read somewhere that LR had built some form of “euphonic tube” between engine bay and cabin, to make the car sound better. Can’t find the article. Is it an ICE sham? I remember wide boy petrol heads could buy gadgets like that in the 90s. It figures. Gerry would like it.

My current two cars might well be my last from LR. Nice one, Gerry.

It was good to see in one of the videos that at long last LR has returned to a sensible folding pattern for the rear seat so you can lift the squab up and fold the back into the space to schieve an almost flat floor instead of just tumbling the seat backs down onto the squab - now it work both ways Very Happy Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I’m sure in one video the rear head rests had to be removed.

Yes, but on the 2 x L320 RR’s I owned they were the same - ie you to remove the head restraint to tumble fold the seat backs , same on the 2 FFRR’s I owned and there was a really useful hidden stowage under there where I used to keep winter. Survival kit when I was travelling the length of the UK in winter. Needless I always got through on winter tyres and with TR but I knew that there was sleeping in the car kit and some recovery gear stashed under the rear seat. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
