Hello folks,
Having just fitted a snorkel that enters the engine bay via the wing top, I'm wondering what to do with the original and now redundant grill on the side. I appreciate that this is a bit of a niche requirement but does anybody know of an off-the-shelf blanking plate? At a push, I could make something (or even leave it as is, I suppose) but if something already exists then that would be great. +1 (or is it +2) Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Unless you’re going to weld a piece in and repaint the whole panel I can’t see anything else would look better then it does now. Leave it. Save the money for some extra toilet paper.

You could (though a bit over the top) fit a TDi wing panel as they are one piece the inlet grill is on the other side on a TDi For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I think that only applies to 200 Tdi? Our 300 is the same side as Td5/Tdci
You'd need to cut the side repeater hole, however. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Yes, there is a blanking plate, it's used on certain MoD vehicles. I'll see if I can dig out the P/N.

Here you go, p/n 8510320, used on WMIK. The seller below has one left.

Why? Neatness, as much as anything. Whilst it's not the end of the world, I don't like things that don't serve a purpose. Much like when people fit grills in place of the blanking plate on top of the wing - what's the point? I don't get the extra cooling argument, I'm afraid. It hasn't needed that extra cooling so far in its' life, so why does it need it now?
Yeah, I won't be replacing the wing. It's not that much of an issue
Blackwolf, that's brilliant, thank you. Now purchased. I couldn't make out whether you'd replaced the grill on yours as the photo is a bit dark. Click image to enlarge Speak to the people that sold you the snorkel (nakatenenga I presume?) They do a conversion kit for fitting the snorkel to a LHD vehicle. They sold me the wing vent separately. Thanks, Roy. Is that a blank or some sort of scoop you've got fitted?
Fortunately, I've now bought the WMIK blank that Blackwolf identified for me, so all being well I'm sorted. Apart from being a genuine part, it also has the advantage of being significantly cheaper than anything Nakatanenga are likely to supply Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Funnily enough my snorkel enters through the LH wing top. I am making up a chequer plate blank today to cover the hole as during a quick repaint I realised how much mud enters through the current useless vent panel.
