My speedo thinks its out of a series! When crusing at, say, 60 mph, the needle swings back and forth from about 60 - 65 or more. I have tried cruising at various speeds and there is always a swing, but its most pronounced at 60 mph. I have a tacho fitted, but the tacho readout is steady, the tacho installer say if its something to do with the tacho it would show up on the tacho screen too, but they aren't 100% sure. I think its the electronic box telling the speedo what to do - its feeding to the tacho okay, but not the dash. I'm not happy just to leave it as its too vague to know exactly what speed I'm doing, and you all know what VOSA can be like...
Anyone had this problem before? Cheers. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Other gauges and rev meter are fine, tacho readout itself is also fine. 2011 110 USW

Is that on the Landrover side, or the tacho side? I need to know as Mudie-Bond will only do the Tacho, Landrover will obviously only touch the Landrover part of it - for example if thats part of the speedo, it would come under Landrover...the sensor on the tacho seems to be working correctly, they put in the rollers and the tacho readout was correct and didn't waver.
As the day went on today the speedo has got worse and worse, nearly 10mph overreading now, as well as wavering. Speed limiter also cuts in at an actual 70 mph as it thinks I'm doing 82! 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Yes its a Seimens VDO unit. Did you ever cure it? I checked it today with the satnav and the tacho, and the speedo is about 10% out now as well as the wavering. 2011 110 USW

Doesn't sound very promising then. I have asked the tacho people to look into it. The fact that it *did* work okay when first fitted suggests its some kind of component failure. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

. Mine is so bad I have to check the tacho to see what speed I'm doing, the speedo itself is all over the place making it very difficult to drive. I'll be on the blower to the tacho centre I think... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Spoke with my dealer today, they are going to contact Landrover directly and see what they have to say, and I am awaiting a call back from the tacho centre to get it booked back into them. 2011 110 USW

Ask the taco people to take their pick up from another no Land Rover source ie the same way my terratrip rally computer is fed 4 magnets on the handbrake drum and a small pick up mounted to read them. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
