Not quite an F1 pitstop
but still pretty good.

I do like the Dakar but always frustrated with the Eurosport coverage or lack of and even then they repeat themselves so many times.

Going to miss South America as the scenery was amazing. Not sure if yesterdays events will cause issues with this race going around Saudi Arabia - remember when the last African Dakar was cancelled at the start due to the threat of terrorists.

Certainly the reinforced 'forest' gravel rally tyres we have used are quite heavy due to the reinforced side walls, etc

Why do they remove the spare wheel, take the old wheel off and then put the old wheel straight back on again? Is it in the regs that they have to go through the motions of changing a wheel even though it isn't changed?

Not positive but perhaps BF Goodrich 37×12,5 R17 on the 2wds & they were running BF Goodrich 245/80 R16s on the 4wds.

Not sure, unless it was just a practice change?

There was some good footage of a Bowler Bulldog wheel change in competition a while back but I can't find it at the mo. WARNING.

Simply a practise so they can get used to the location and securing methods in case they need to change under duress.......

I think the weakness in that change is what happens to the wheel nuts; I'm certain dropping them into the sand is not conducive of fast and certain swaps under pressure.
