Clutch or spigot bush issue
My Discovery 2 makes a whining noise when cold. This is when the clutch is semi engaged and slipping the clutch when reversing off my drive. Doesn't make a noise after this.
Is this the release bearing or the spigot bush? Its a TD5 manual.

Almost certainly the spigot bush. This is a common problem with the Td5.

But if you remove the gearbox to fix it, you can might as well replace the clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing.

No use doing it now only to do it again later on.
