Brakes Squealing!
Morning Fella's

Anybody's brakes squeal? Mine squeal a bit when I lightly touch the brakes but stop when I increase the pressure.

Just wondered if it was the norm with defenders and if so any possible remidies other than WD40!

Chances are, the squeel is actually the back of the pad and not the friction surface.

It vibrates inside the caliper and squeels against the piston.

Some pads come with a sticky rubber pad to stop it, if not, you can put a small amount of copper grease on the back of the pad...... Craig Rogers

Yup, mine scream like a banshee most of the time, it is loud enough to make people look round. I have tried all the conventional rememdies, and the sqeal always come back eventually.

They also rattle when not appplied as you drive along, and this too seems impossible to cure.

Get occasional squealing but it's very quiet. Doesn't bother me. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

My offside front squeals occasionally. It's not bad, so it doesn't bother me, and also it's intermittent.

Yup, back passengers side always squeals and always has done since Ive had it. One of those things I think! 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞)

Looks like I'll try the cooper slip and if not put up with it. Dosn't really jar me off much just noticeable.
