[Wanted] Defender TD5 110 front diff (sorted thanks)
Hi all
I'm looking for a good condition P38 2 pin differential !
For the front of my 110 TD5, after mine tried to eat its own crown wheel bolts

Cheers kevin

Unless I'm mistaken, the front diff is a standard 24 spline, 3.54 ratio Rover type diff. Only the rear axle on a 110 has a P38/Wolf differential (unless it's an earlier Salisbury axle of course)

Hope that makes your search easier.

^^ Correct. A P38 short nose diff won't fit the front axle of either a Puma or a TD5.

You need a Rover pattern (long nose) diff. TD5 and Puma are interchangeable in the front across all wheelbases (90, 100, and 130), however you may want to consider fitting a four-gear diff as used (allegedly) on late Puma 110 and 130 models (and possibly 90s) since the earlier two-gear diff is of marginal strength.

You don't seem to hear of TD5s destroying two-gear diffs, but Pumas do regularly and the four gear diff is the only sensible option for these.

Are these a direct fit? Anything I should know before ordering? Peter
