Removing dinitrol to paint
I’ve got some rust showing though on the chassis. Nothing major but would like to address it. What is the best way to remove the dinitrol in the area so I can treat it, paint it and then put dinitrol back over the top?

Or, would just whacking some dinitrol over the top of the rust be enough?!

spray it or paint it with white spirits, wait about 90 seconds and wipe it off, repeat until removed DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Co1 may I ask how long ago your chassis was dinitrolled? Mine was done 3 years ago but needs a refresh I’m sure. Thumbs Up 2015 HT XS 90

I use this stuff to clear off the old wax & then retreat as necessary...it works a treat.

Just over two years ago. There is nothing major, just a few rust spots showing through that I want to keep on top of. I’ll do it this summer and then probably the whole thing dinitrolled again next summer.

Would it make sense to wire brush it, treat the rust with something like Hydrate80 and then Dinitrol- thats what I was thinking for my chassis.

I use white spirit to clean the waxes. Lots of rags required, but depending on area.
I use a product called HG Rust Remover to clean the rust. It is a bit slow working, but it removes the rust, not convert it. There are other rust removers, like DrX, that work faster but find them to be more chemically aggressive. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

This stuff is my go-to solution for removing bitumen based sealants including Dinitrol overspray as well as the sticky residue from most self-adhesive items. It is excellent stuff. However, for removing a thick layer of Dinitrol I'd probably gently warm it up with a heat gun and scrape most of the wax off first.

I really wouldn't put wet waxes anywhere near a vehicle they just make a snotty mess and hold in moisture until eventually pealing off. Better to prep the surfaces properly, remove any bolt on parts and treat with a proper primer something like Buzzweld Rust Encapsulator and then Chassis in One on top. If you don't want the work of prepping another good product is Lanogaurd which will need reapplying every couple of years but is much more effective than wet waxes.
