Wiper spindles through the bulkhead probably seized. Pop the rubber cap of the outside and spray with copious amounts of wd40 while working the wipers. Ray

This happened to me recently and I ended up having to replace the spindles and drive to them as i was unable to free them up with WD40.
To replace them is a lengthy job involving stripping out your dashboard so allow plenty of time to do it. If you do a search under wipers there is a lot of good advice on completing this job. I t is worth replacing the wiper park switch whilst in there as a precautionary measure whilst the dashboard is stripped down they are known to be a problem. 2016 Defender Landmark 90 2005 Defender CSW TD5 90XS |

Don’t use WD40 on your spindles unless it's their penetrating oil. Be sure to use a good penetrant, original WD 40 is useless as a penetrant. Had to replace both spindles on my 110 TD5.
Make sure you fit genuine LR parts. I found that the rubber sealing boots on aftermarket ones didn’t stop water ingress to the spindles. The job takes a while but it’s not difficult. |
