Thanks Mick but I have loads of camping gear from years of managing youths outward bound stuff through the Princess Trust, Duke of Edinburgh, Scouts etc, even did a weeks mountain leadership course on top of other leadership courses over the years BUT those days are over now I have packed my job in and at 45 with a dodgy knee I am happy to do my adventures on the water or by vehicle - when my kids are old enough I'll take them to a few of the old haunts though to get them into it...
This is just when I spend the occasional night in the Defender before a show or after driving all day to pick up a motor the next morning or if it's too rough on the boat I can bail out to the Landy etc. As said I just want to stay in the vehicle, lean over and plug in something to make a brew when it's pouring with rain outside! Doesn't matter how long it takes there's no rush I think I'll run a separate wire from the battery with a fuse unless I find out that the existing wiring can take 14 amps |

Already appreciated the 110s camping credentials when dragging the family to the beach in the rain. We can all sit in the back with a nice hot drink watching the World go by, we can go anywhere (surf spots are often inaccessible by most vehicles), we don't care if it gets dirty or wet and you can fit the World in it. I wouldn't sleep in ours - got good camping kit for that - but it's a brilliant camping "support" truck.
Done plenty of Army stuff on the Brecons and similar - my days of being near hypothermic while shivering under a bivvy are well and truly over! For now anyway... Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

The power wires to the back - for fitting an Aux Socket are fused at 20 amps- Fuse F2 under Drivers seat.

My wife and I toured Ireland in a 90 turbo diesel hardtop-and slept in the back of it. It was a fairly makeshift arrangement but we were both younger and more flexible then. A great time was had by all. Compared to the back of a 90 a Puma 110 is practically palatial so you should have no bother kipping in the back of it.We had no headlining on the hardtop in the back and the condensation in the morning was really something to see- and feel! Try it in the driveway first. Don't forget - us Land Rover men are tough so we are well capable of this sort of stuff! Makes me want to almost go outside to the Puma now! If I can find a photo of the Mrs bedding down in the back of the 90 I will post it. They were good days...Young, flexible, not fussy. Actually we were broke after buying the 90 and we had no money for B and B's. Still like I said, great times. Did it on two consecutive Summers. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
