Thanks Martin and Hank, much appreciated. I needed to know as after 2mins driving this morning, I had smoke coming from behind the radio and also from hole at the bottom of the OS B pillar and from the roof lining at the driver door (although this last one may have traveled up the pillar so originated from lower down).
Fortunately I stopped in time and disconnected the battery and the smoke stopped. Now I just need to trace the cause. Two of the purple and brown wires to/from the blue block have melted. The internal lights did stop working which ties up with Martins messsage. Looking in the satellite fuse box there is also a melted 15A fuse. 2002 Defender 110 CSW TD5 |

Check for rub through on the interior light wiring up the screen pillar and to the roof. You have a short somewhere.
