Afternoon all, on behalf of a friend, I have been asked to advise on the potential value of his 2B Forward Control. I am struggling to get anything meaningful from the classic land rover dealers due to its rarity.
It is (we believe) and ex-RAF 2B FC pickup, with tilt. It has the original type 6 cylinder engine (although not necessarily the actual original engine) and is in excellent condition for its age (H registration / 1969). It has been dry stored in an aircraft hangar for the last 7 years (and many before that I believe) and is MOT'd every year. It has only been used on 1 day in the last 7 years. Bodywork is in good condition with very little ageing on what looks like its original grey paint. Chassis is solid (including the upper one). Tyres are in good order (hardly used). If you need any other information please advise. I have some photos I can share if necessary but I can't post them here. If you have an idea of anyone in the trade that deals in this type of vehicle please let me know. Many Thanks! |

Good idea - having been looking around it seems quite a rare beast, certainly in this kind of condition.
Thanks! |

An exceptionally difficult vehicle to value, I suspect, since it won't appeal to the bulk of the crazy folk who are driving prices up at the moment but will appeal enormously to a specialist collector. I think that the price in any sale will depend enormously on how it is sold (a specialist auction would be my suggestion) and who is in the auction room or on the phone to the auction room at the time.
I imagine that it is valuable but at a sensible level rather than the absurd figures being asked for certain more mainstream Land-Rover products. I would be very interested to see some photos, it sounds a gem. |

I would love it. Just need few quid on the lottery tomorrow night and I will make him an offer
Totally impractical for me, put I have wanted one of these for 25 years. There is something about a FC that really appeals to me. I hope it gets a good home (if my lottery numbers fail to come up ) |

With a 2.6 six-pot and ENV axles it could also be massively expensive to maintain, but from the description of its condition it is very desirable.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. I now have a believable valuation from an expert (Philip at Dunsfold).

Aw come on, don't leave us all in suspenders, how much? It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

Without divulging the estimate exactly, it is where I suspected it would be, approaching 5 figures providing it withstands inspection. Although not the most desirable model, it's original, untouched and has been maintained well.

Original unmolested vehicles in good condition seem to command the best prices. I have a friend who is into the earlier Forward Controls and is going to embark on a rebuild of one this year. Some photos would be nice if you could post some up.
