Hi, I would visit http://www.4x4cb.com/. They should be able to sort you out, they also do starter kits

Hello Simon
I use a Midland 48 Excel. Bought it from Communication 11 (4X4cb.com) about 8 years ago and still going strong. Jim is only based in Dorking so might be worth your while going to see him. He will also cut the internal cabling for you once you know where you want to mount the aerial The mount i have is on the rear upper panel using either a short 'rubber duck' aerial from most lanning trips as this is not damaged by low branches and foliage. The longer springer type i use from club marhalling and Sailsbury Plain if running in more than one group. I am heading down to Sailsbury Plain this weekend and was going to PM you as we were unable to get together earlier in the year. Let me know if you are free. Cheers Mark |

Sorry to barge in.... When are you out on the 'plain? I'll probably be there on Monday, work depending. What CB channel will you be on? i'll leave mine on and see (hear) if i can hear you anywhere... look for a green 110 CSW with external cage |

Hi DJ
Still catching up with friends so yet to confirm which day over the weekend - most likley will be the Saturday or Sunday though. How often to you go over there? I get the updates from the range wardens so tend to go out when i know the bulk of the area is clear of any activity We are on channel 2 Mark |

Thanks for all the tips - much appreciated. I'm now ordering a Midland 248 package from 4x4cb (Mark - I had a look at the 48 on your recommendation, but they're out of stock and recommending the 248 as an alternative)
Over and out! Mark - PM sent re Salisbury this weekend Simon '11 Defender 110XS Utility SW '07 Discovery 3 HSE '58 Porsche 356A (not good off road) '59 Lambretta (not good on or off road!) |

OK, SWMBO has now made plans for monday, so i might be out on one of the other days. How often am I there? usually once or twice a week. i'm only about 20 minutes away from Marlborough/Burbage area, so can get there quickly... which is great! |

Ok - boring question, but looking at aerial size - any major probs with a 61 inch Springer? Obviously a bit taller so better reception, but would it really be so springy that it hits bodywork? Or does the 34 inch do the job just fine?
