Hi all. I am looking for some info and possibly parts...
I had an advisory come up on the MOT (suspension rod ball joint has slight play), but was doing the NC500 and didn't have time to change it. Well anyway some of the roads had unavoidable pot holes, and has made the clank it makes worse and more often. The chap at my garage said its only the adjustable part that needs changing... I believe this set up is 'Scorpion Racing' set up and have been made aware that they went out of business some time ago. Is it possible to still buy the adjustable bit on the end?? Look forward to hearing your responses. Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

Is it a normal panhard bush at the end or is it a rod end bearing in there?.

Personally I'd have reccomended putting a standard panhard rod on, however you appear to have quite a large suspension lift so that may cause axle alignment issues. I'm not a fan of lifted suspension so I know what I'd do but each to their own.
The thread size refers to the size of the bolts holding the rod on. Those rods are available to suit both bolt sizes, and also in either a fixed eye (like a standard rod) or a rose joint version - the latter supposedly giving more freedom of movement. Again, personally I am not a fan of this sort of arrangement and would go for a proper metalastik bush in a fixed eye every time. As the above reply tries to explain, in 2002 they updated the design for the panhard rod and increased the size of the bolts from M14 (14mm) to M16. As yours is from after this date it should have the later bolts and this certainly appears to be the case from the photos, as the bolt head is flanged and these were the factory fitted bolts from 2002-on. To confirm, whip a bolt out and measure its diameter. |
