Washed and ready to start.
Note. I had removed grill, radiator, engine electrical connections and plumbing. Radiator just loosely refitted for transport. 80" 1948 Lightweight V8 Bowler Tomcat 130 Station wagon 90 300tdi (Santana PS10 pick up) Range Rover L322 (Ful fat) |

No, it was a turbo diesel soft top when new. One of the last civilian soft tops for U.K. market and one of the first turbo diesels. (1987) 80" 1948 Lightweight V8 Bowler Tomcat 130 Station wagon 90 300tdi (Santana PS10 pick up) Range Rover L322 (Ful fat) |

Custom built, same fittings on rear. Takes a discountable hydraulic winch, or a variety of tow hitches. Secured with tractor implement pins. 80" 1948

Ah, I remember now, you mentioned this before. A very neat arrangement. How old is the failed chassis, and was it a new chassis supplied galvanised or a repaired chassis that was then galvanised? |

The chassis that needs replacing was a ‘chassis for life’ fitted by Foleys. They claimed or was a new galvanised chassis, but the plain factory chassis it replaced had lasted longer!
That is another story, and my dissatisfaction with Foleys was well documented on another thread a while ago. This thread will concentrate on the re-build, not the reasons behind it. 80" 1948 Lightweight V8 Bowler Tomcat 130 Station wagon 90 300tdi (Santana PS10 pick up) Range Rover L322 (Ful fat) |

The term "chassis for life" would take some explaining under the circumstances. The story is coming back to me now.
My sympathy for your hassle, but you will get a much better vehicle as a result. |

never seen shock brackets corrode like that..i know you live by the sea but that looks like you have parked in the harbour for years.assume you launch / recover boats with it ?
should be a good rebuild. plus all the maintenance jobs that you never get time to do will be done for you and it'll come back driving like a good one. are you going to put any extra coatings on teh chassis this time with were you live as now would be teh best time to do it? |

I live about twelve miles from the coast, it has never been into the sea. Still undecided about additional coatings for the chassis. Like everything, cost is a factor! 80" 1948
