From my own personal experience it's the serviceable/wearing parts...
Genuine JLR steering arm ball joint significantly outlasts cheaper ones After a few bad experiences with copies I now only use genuine JLR seals/gaskets, particularly rubber ones. > 110 XS Double Cab |

Thanks Hank
I have the defender booked in for regreaseing next week and to check again where I have a leak as dripping oil but not needed to be topped up in the engine filler so I will ask the mechanic to use genuine parts as you have suggested Thanks |

Ignition barrel..... such a difference between genuine and aftermarket right through to the quality of the actual key.

Thanks box of tricks
Another job for me to do as the front door locks don't work so I decided to go for dead locks instead but I do when the money has grown on the tree and is ready for picking have all 3 changed ie rear one as well and the ignition So much to do on this defender lots of little things which can make it stressful and now and again makes you want to throw in the towel but it's now running superbly and I keep looking at the list I have of what I have done to it and even though I have much more to do I will keep going on with it. what I don't want to do is buy things twice due to being a bad product and if the garage is involved paying twice for labor Thanks again for your inputs on this topic |
