I'm planning to. I've bought the light - a red LED job - and I was just going to splice the wiring into the existing brake light circuit in the driver's side wiring cover.
To fit the light itself, I'm going to fit a security grill, so I was just going to fix it to that somewhow, either by making up small brackets to bolt on, or just using adhesive foam tape and tie wraps. The light unit is very lightweight so wouldn't cause any problems that way. Don't know if that helps...? Geocel do a "mirror fix" silicone sealant. Intended for bathroom mirrors, but should work ok on your light.
Works well as intended on bathroom mirrors, but mine was white. You would need black or transparent though as it would be visible from outside. |

I have (but not wired up yet). Used rear view mirror adhesive to fix two studs to the window so that lamp and enclosure could be bolted up. The first time didn't adhere well and pulled off one stud as it was tightened.

Use these as above https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defe...Sws19Zh2n7
But either use gorilla glue or two-part epoxy glue to fit. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

My rear window doesn't/didn't have a brake light.
I got hold of the proper LR light (huge great thing!) and the two threaded bits as above. Used the "rear view mirror" fitting kit from my local autofactors (you get a little piece of mesh which you cut to size, then cover with the glue stuff and hold it on to the glass) This: Seems to hold ok for a while, then one of them falls off. I've tried it several times, then switched to tiger seal panel adhesive, that didn't work, then got my die grinder and "roughed up" the glass where the adhesive would be, and they still fell off eventually. so now the 3rd brake light is in the garage... must advertise it on here sometime! eventually I'll find a slimline LED light to fit up there. Don't know how they glue those threaded pieces on at the factory; must be a helluva adhesive. |

Just a guess but probably a correct one that they use a UV curing adhesive as in Permabond. UV adhesives are not really for the home user but kits including a small UV light source are available commercially. One tip though, make sure both the metal stud and glass are spotlessly clean the tiniest bit of grease even from a finger mark will cause the joint to fail. Wales is good though because as yet I have not put the Manchester house on the market I am still commuting between the cottage and the house. However, because I have now retired since we last met I aim to make a concerted effort to sell the house this year as I have no real use for it now I am no longer working at MMU.
Glad the alloys are still looking good For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

If you're not too fussed about fitting an original part, with a little imagination and access to some scrappers, the possibilities are endless. I fitted a brake light from a Hyundai something, (I think,) with part of the cowl trimmed off, a bit of a homemade bracket and some edge trim where it meets the glass, then just linked in to the normal brake light circuit. Then to finish it off, a bit of suitably shaped trim to cover the bracket.
