Suspension change - terrafirma shocks and springs
Hi

I’ve just bought some terrafirma springs they are 010 and 014 light load for usw as well as all terrain shocks

I was looking to replace my USW as I believe them to be originals on 120k, the ride is hard and you can feel every bump in the road

I generally don’t carry a lot of weight although I have a rack and roof tent (tent not installed)

I was looking into changing springs and some of these terrafirmas came up cheap on eBay £100 inc vat and delivery so I thought I’d try them, not too bothered about the lift and I think the rack etc will bring it more or less to standard, I was just after more comfort - generally used on road

I’m going to ask my mechanic mate to fit them, is there anything else that is recommended to be changed at same time?

I’ve seen some posts where there are rubbers above springs, to reduce noise? Is that only for genuine springs? (Not sure of sizes etc)

It's worth replacing all of the mounting hardware (bottom mounts, clamps and shock towers) with galvanised versions for longevity:

I'm a big fan of the Gwyn Lewis shock turrets. They're keenly priced and the open design means that mud and grime can't get trapped inside against the shock.

Isolators are a good idea, although the solution isn't as straightforward for a 110 as for a 90. The picture above shows all the kit for a 90, which includes Disco 2 front isolators and Disco 1 rears. Unfortunately, the rears won't fit a 110 as the springs are larger. There is an alternative for the rear in the form of isolators intended for a Toyota that are sold by Devon 4x4, although I can't find the link at the moment. Darren
