Yes. Might take me a while to trust it again though... 2011 110 USW

Hit 80,000 last night on the way to Oxford.
Still not feeling very confident with my clutch/gearbox, doesn't seem as nice as the 35,000 miler I'm driving at work... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Worse I would say. Sometimes doesn't drop into gear, sometimes feels a bit notchy.
Oh and the reversing lamp has packed up. But it isn't the bulb. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Doesn't sound to promising if it's worse Have you mentioned it to your mechanic about it not being so good as before Sounds like a new reverse switch then ( i think that's what it is called, the name has slipped my mind ) 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Oh it's much better than before the clutch failed, I think it just doesn't feel as nice as my 2.2 works truck which has done less than half the mileage.
Reverse lamp might have to wait until it's next service, along with the rattling exhaust. Is my exasperation with landrovers showing? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Its seven years old and starting to show some signs of age I guess. How good do we expect an 80,000+ mile gearbox to be anyway? 2011 110 USW

At 80k miles I'd expect a modern gearbox to be at its peak, properly run in and just about as good as it gets. My 230k gearbox is perfect, although the same cannot be said of the transfer box (number 2) which is now whining much like number 1 did when I removed it at 150k miles.

Hi blackwolf, is your gearbox the original one or have you put in a recon one that has done this sort of mileage, many thanks. 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Engine, gearbox, and output adaptor shaft are original. I'm on the second transfer box, fifth or sixth clutch (I've lost count)!

Aside from a recent service I have not really done anything with my 110 recently. Now just over 82,000 miles and the clutch now feels normal so guess it just required some bedding in. I do have it booked in for fitting heated mirrors and spotlamps as I am heading into Europe in the winter and I'm sick of not being able to see very much around here at night. Not a big fan of modifications but these do make sense... 2011 110 USW

Know what you mean with the heated mirrors and makes a lot of sense to have them fitted 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

So the mirrors and lamps went on. I told the garage roughly what I wanted and was pleasantly surprised with the result, looks good and VERY bright!
