The CTEk MXS 5.0 will do the job. CTEKs will generally charge AGM batteries

Just looking at this on Amazon. At £68, a difference between this and the CTEK MXS7 at over £110. If the 5 is adequate, then perfect. |

Whoops- just checked, and battery is a PC2150 extreme. Presume the same charger will be fine. Will it also tell me if the battery is duff- not holding a charge?

The 5 amp should be ok if the battery has little or no drain whilst it is being charged. I have 5 amp smart charger (Aldi special!) that has no problem topping up a 120AH AGM although it's not very quick 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The basic charger won't tell you if the battery is holding its charge or needs replacing. For that you need the CTEK MSX 5.0 Test and Charge
If you have a meter you can check if it is holding it's charge. Actually the basic CTEK has a red and green light on the battery connection which tells you if it has a full charge or needs charging. If it goes red shortly after charging then battery is not holding its charge Also as Bluest has said, the 5amp will just take longer to charge than the more powerful model Edit: the red/green light thing is on the panel connector which is an optional accessory - so more money. But I find it useful as you can leave it connected to the battery and just plug charger in when required. Martin of this forum also sells a connector to be able to charge from the towbar electrics (if using 13 pin towbar electrics which has connection to battery) |

sorry to burst your bubble but a cheap charger and a low amp charger isnt what you need for optimum battery performance. if you go on the makers web page there is a fairly good guide to how to obtain optimum life thru charging etc.
we use 10-15 amp on the bigger batteries and 8-10 on the Small red tops and pc1500 pc 1700 we used to run for many years without issue. ctek or a similar quality brand. the ring ones tend to last 12 mths max with regular use. here is one link for you https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/supp...rging-tips |

Low and slow is best. A low amp charger (one to 12 amps) is generally the best choice for charging any lead-acid battery. It's quicker to charge at higher amperage, but it also can generate a lot of heat, which reduces the life of a battery, just like the heat of summer. |
