There have been a number of threads on this and views / opinions exchanged (some with stress calculations etc) but I was wondering if anyone has actual experience using them for a recovery. By recovery I am thinking mud based recovery such that you have considerable forces present rather than any road or minor field recovery.
So, any long term usage reports of products such as the link below......please https://www.4x4overlander.com/product/recovery-eye/ Sweatysock ------------- 110 CSW TDCI (Puma) 2007 |

I have a D44 Defender Clubman Bumper - Low line Air Con Tapered bumper that has 2 double re-enforced recovery eyes on it. I have assumed they will be perfectly acceptable recovery points regardless of where I am stuck? Obviously not tested them yet but if I did have to I would be a bit cheesed off if they failed! Is that likely??

I have the Nakatanenga ones from Brendan but haven't had to use them in anger.

I have them as well. Fine for straight pulls but when I had to pull a Patrol out of a ditch at a bit of an angle it bent that direction. Not too surprising I suppose as the metal is actually quite thin.
They look good and they are solid for occasional recovery. |
