While I do not know for sure, it is likely that it's glued. That s how most OEMs do it. If you do end up cutting into the dash, cut a much smaller hole first and separate the hide from the panel back to the area where you want to cut the hole for the component. This will ensure you have a lot of leather left to pull/wrap behind the panel for a clean look.

Simple don’t itll never look good relocate the switches to the cubby box I think mcma did this in his?? 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

I personally would also avoid cutting the dash at all. There are switch holders out there which can be mounted in the cubby or I've seen a Disco 2, 6 switch holder mounted next to the steering column which looked tidy 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
