Self-tapping screws or rivets?
I am planning to fit a raised air intake. The upper part comes on the post of the windscreen. Some fiddley looking rivets came with the RAI.

I am in doubt if I should use these rivets (I'll have to buy a rivet gun then), or are self-tapping screws a better option? What are your thoughts?

The rivets have more strength as the screws and they are aluminium. So there will be no contact corrosion to your window frame.

We are manufacturing your RAI for over 15 years, using these rivets and never noticed any problem with it. WANTED:

SII or SIII in max 1.5k

Use the rivnut. No need to buy a special tool, you can use a diy tool:

Rivnuts are available in aluminium, steel or stainless. Aluminium is good in contact corrosion, steel or stainless not. The next thing is that the weakening of the frame is higher, 4.8mm rivet is a 5mm hole. M6 rivnut is an 11mm hole. The frame is cast and not very meaty. WANTED:

SII or SIII in max 1.5k

Aha, I read rivNUT, because mine (Mantec) came with rivnuts. Thumbs Up
