Just watched it and really interesting, makes total sense .
I had a terrafirma RTC damper fitted to a 300tdi years ago. It seemed a good idea at the time but only masked the real problem!

You mention it’s worse whilst applying drive. Have you tried driving it with front prop removed?

I would also add, Ive never had tracking done that was spot on, and I’ve never driven a Defender that just straight lined like a modern vehicle.

Hi Landy Andy

I’ve not tried with the prop shaft removed but if I take it out of gear down a long hill it still pulls left so I imagine that’s the same thing

I’m going to take the steering shaft off today to have a look at the UJ’s and re centralise the Power steering box while I’m at it as I read somewhere that an uncentralised box will make the steering vague and pull

Another thing , I was looking at the workshop Manual for a puma last night and the recommded front springs for RHD DC are yellow/yellow both sides NRC 8045
When I ordered springs from Paddocks a few months ago , I was given one NRC 8044 and one NRC 8045 but this is the LR recommendation for LHD !

Is that going to make any difference ? I imagine not really

Have you checked from Center, how many turns to the right and how many turns to the left?

Can’t remember but I thought drop arm went on in correct place or very wrong place due to the splines.

Once the drop arm is in the correct place, you can centralise the steering use a hole in the steering box, and the two prongs on the drop arm by aligning them with pin/drill bit/locating dowl

I must admit that I’m always puzzled by different springs on different sides.

So should you change springs when you go on holiday, or if you’ve got a fat girlfriend? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

But yes it could make a difference for you.

It does seem a bit daft having different springs !

I rarely have a full fuel tank and the Mrs isn’t a feather

Is it possible that your replacement axle, if not new, is either bent or been repaired? 'Volvo XC 70, taking the rough with the smooth’

Possibly but it was doing it before the new axle so fingers crossed . I think it started to show when the pump was replaced and the suspension was changed ,

Tip never do too many jobs at once , it makes fault diagnosis harder !!!
