57 plate 110 dcpu on boost alloys and standard rubber (general grabber's but still the 235 85 16) not much in the way of weighty stuff to drag it down, to the top of the ariel which is the highest point
81" give or take a 1/4" so i guess you have room for that 4" lift just hope there are no speed bumps before or after the entrance as they may with speed get you a bit to close. HTH |

Cheers Double Cab Happy. That's reassuring..... and no, no speed humps anywhere. Pride intact for the mo!!
With only a few inches to spare, I guess any sort of roof rack or even an original LR RAI are possibly a NO NO. |

Roof rack would be out, but the Mantec- plastic jobby- RAI ( which I believe is the same, apart from the logo, as the Land Rover RAI, sits no taller than the total vehicle height. NB- Radio Aerial, at full extension, is higher than the roof line, so if it fits the roof be clear.

well your ok with the LR RAI as that is lower than the top of the ariel, which is handy when you are not sure just watch the ariel and if thats through your ok,
p.s i have a LR RAI, p.p.s just make sure your ariel is all the way up. |

If you want to check - the manual has the heights in it and its on-line in topix.
We had a similar problem in the last house - modern development like i bet yours is...but we could get the roof tent under (thankfully) Mike |

Yer built within the last few years. Communal parking areas.... all very political!
I clocked the heights on TopiX at 80-82" dependant on model but we all know Defender tolerances!! |

I use the twanging aerial technique for most car parks, and also carry a Fluke 416D laser distance measure.. Not a cheap, but cheaper than getting stuck. http://isswww.co.uk/Laser-Distance-Meters/...ance-Meter ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. For info, I have a 2007 County-spec DC with an IW canopy. The highest point on the vehicle is actually the hinges for the rear flap of the canopy, which are approx 1/2" higher than the tip of the aerial. The cab roof, and the RAI (a mil-spec metal jobby) are lower than the aerial.
Despite running on 285's I can actually get into the local multistory car park which says max height 1.96 metres; however the Defender is definitely well over this height. I can remember a scary moment once taking my Dicovery2 into a multistory in Reading - the signs said I should have had plenty of clearance (6" plus) but that was before new lighting and sprinklers had been fitted. I ended up having to dodge all the lights and plumbing in the roof; it was very, very close! |

In Paris last year going into a carpark just stopped in time as the angle of the entry was gong to mean I hit the roof.
Backed up and then the guy on the gate dropped the barrier on my bonnet, he is now dead ! |
