Fab, congratulations. I watch 'chasing classic cars' and look at awe in the people who've owned vehicles for thi kind of time.
I thought I was doing well at 5 years on New Year's Eve with the v8! I hope it never leaves you Merry Christmas. |

In January i'll have owned my 90 for 16 years, looks like i'm a mere beginner. How much of the vehicle is original?

I have a feeling that in Series One circles, there are one or two folks that have had them from new but you are well up there with one of the longest owned. My longest is the 86in at a mere 30 years

The Land-Rover that I have owned longest in my collection is my first S1 80", which IIRC I bought in 1979 or possibly 1980, a mere 39 years ago. A youngster by comparison to Slideywindows.
Mind you, as a 1953 model the vehicle was only 26 years old then, so the equivalent of a 1992 vehicle now. Click image to enlarge Before anyone points out the obvious incongruities, it didn't take me long after buying it to realise that it was not exactly the 1953 vehicle I had been lead to believe. There are many details in the photo above which reveal that it was actually assembled from two 80" vehicles, a 1953 example and a 1950 example. How many non-1953 anomalies can you spot? |

50 years can’t be beaten. Congrats.
But mine which I own from new, has turned 10 back in Sep, and going very strong. Condition as new, sometimes even better than new. Plan to keep it forever, one day it may move as a collector item to one of the next generation.... Recent picture... Eric Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |
