Sounds like a classic problem, happened on my old 90. You get a fatigue crack in a plate within the door mechanism so that with the button up if you use the interior release the button drops down about half way & the door doesn't open. Try dropping the window, pop the button up and hold it there with your left hand then push the outside door button using your right hand, door should open & trim can then be removed for a repair using the electric glue sparky thing to repair the crack

thanks, that's almost right
it was seeming to work on key, but would open, because a plastic toggle off my Rab jacket had got caught, smashed into the door mech, so even when unlocked it was stuck fast, managed to get door panel off, saw it was unlocking so gave it a big shove and it opened but you are right the button runner plastic clip wotsit was cracked, so used soldering iron to fix it ta very much |
