16 hrs ยท Have you seen this car? It is believed it was stolen from a locked property in #SaffronWalden between November 19 and November 20. The vehicle is a 64th Series 2 1958 Land Rover, built on the second day of production. It is incredibly rare, and has its original paint and trim with every original mechanical part. The Land Rover is the original dark green colour, with a dark green soft top and green wheels. It has a power take-off rear wheel winch on the back which is incredibly rare. If you have seen this vehicle please report it to us immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Very sad, my fingers are crossed and I will keep my eyes peeled.
Surely that's a belt drive PTO not a winch on the back? Or was a winch fitted in its place when it was stolen? Rear capstans are indeed exceptionally rare. Last edited by blackwolf on 23rd Nov 2018 1:15pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Indeed it is a pto belt drive attachment, fairly rare piece of kit and quit valuable in itself.

I went to Julian's place of storage when he first bought it, with two other Series Two anoraks and discussed the bits and pieces it needed to get fully back to original.
Nice vehicle - but he did give it a huge exposure in various mags etc. I think I might have kept it a little more under wraps. Probably stolen to order by professionals to supply an unscrupulous collector, as I am sure it won't be broken for parts! I hope he gets it back. |
